Community guidelines

NSTAN only works if it stays a safe place to be honest. These rules are enforced, not decorative.

Yes please

  • Your own story, in your own words.
  • Honesty about the hard parts.
  • Other people's normals, treated with respect.

Never

  • Slurs, hate, harassment or bullying.
  • Naming or exposing other people without consent.
  • Private details — addresses, phone numbers, workplaces.
  • Graphic descriptions of self-harm, abuse or violence.
  • Advertising, spam or link drops.

How moderation works

  1. 1. Automated screening checks every submission for slurs, contact details and risk language.
  2. 2. A human moderator reads it and approves, edits nothing, or rejects it.
  3. 3. Approved stories go on the Hero Wall. Rejected ones are never published.
  4. 4. Anyone can report a live story; reports are reviewed within 24 hours.
  5. 5. Repeat abuse leads to submissions from that source being blocked.

Your privacy

You choose anonymous, first name or full name. We don't require an account to share, and we never publish contact details. You can ask us to remove your story at any time — see privacy & terms.

If someone is at risk

Report the story and, if there is immediate danger, contact emergency services. Support services are listed on our support page.
